Serving the public by regulating physicians and surgeons

The College Bylaws have been updated to introduce a framework for licensing and regulating of physician assistants (PA) to respond to the urgent need to resource emergency departments in the province.

The College Bylaws have been updated, effective October 5, 2023.

On the third annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, employees and board and committee members at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC are remembering and honouring the victims and survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.

The Ministry of Health has asked that the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC advance a licensing and regulatory framework for appropriately qualified physician assistants to work under the delegation and supervision of physicians in emergency department settings in BC.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia held its 2023 Annual General Meeting virtually on September 22, 2023. A recording of the meeting is available here .

Over the last year, the College has continued to see an increased volume of questions from registrants related to its registration and licensing processes, especially regarding new classes and pathways to licensure. To provide an update and answer questions, the College hosted a webinar on Friday
