College Bylaw Amendment: Section 2-8

On April 1, 2016, the College Board approved amendments to section 2-8 of the Bylaws under the Health Professions Act, RSBC 1996, c.183.

Prior to March 2016, the quality assurance and practice assessments department was responsible for ensuring that registrants are current in clinical practice in accordance with section 2-8 of the Bylaws. Since that time, there has been a realignment of responsibilities and effective March 2016, the registration department of the College has assumed this role. Moreover, it was identified that there is a need for a clear appeal mechanism for those registrants who are not satisfied with a decision made under section 2-8. Given that these decisions regarding a registrant’s currency in clinical practice are made by the registrar of the College pursuant to section 2-8(2), it is preferable that any requests for review of such decisions be directed to the Board.
