Apps and Audiovisual

College registrants have access to streaming video, audio lectures, apps and other multimedia resources. Materials range from point-of-care support to examination question banks, audio lectures and clinical procedures videos.

AccessMedicine (iOS/Android)

AccessMedicine includes four titles: Quick Medical Dx & Rx, Fitzpatrick's Color Atlas of Clinical Dermatology, Diagnosaurus, and Pocket Guide to Diagnostic Tests.

Step 1: On your desktop or mobile browser

  • Go to the library's Point of Care page: www.cpsbc.ca/library/search-materials/point-of-care-drug-tools.
  • Choose AccessMedicine (College login required).
  • Select the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC button in the upper right.
  • Click on Sign In or Create a Free MyAccess Profile.
  • Choose Create a Free MyAccess Profile.
  • Fill in the form and create your account.

Step 2: On your mobile device

  • Download AccessMedicine from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Open AccessMedicine and select Sign In.
  • Enter the usename and password created in Step 1.

Note: To keep your MyAccess account active, you must sign in every 90 days. If your account expires, you will see instructions on how to reactivate it when you access the app.

BC Guidelines (iOS/Android)

BC Guidelines mobile app is now available for Android and iOS.

BMJ Best Practice (iOS/Android)

Best Practice is a patient-focused decision support tool. Evidence-based content based on systematic reviews, meta-analyses, controlled trials, guidelines and expert opinion.

Step 1: On your desktop / laptop

  • Go to the library's Point of Care page: www.cpsbc.ca/library/search-materials/point-of-care-drug-tools.
  • Select Best Practice (College login required).
  • On the Best Practice home page, register for a free personal account OR log in if you have previously registered. You will need these personal account details to log in.

Step 2: On your mobile device

  • Download BMJ Best Practice from the App or Google Play stores.
  • Log in to the app using your Best Practice username and password.
    • If you encounter problems, contact the library.

Step 3: For returning users

  • Delete the old app and download the new app.

Canada QBank (iOS/Android)

Canada QBank online question banks for MCCQE exam preparation.

Contact the library for downloading and initializing instructions.

ClinicalKey (iOS/Android)

ClinicalKey provides access to textbooks, practice guidelines, patient education and multimedia resources, anytime, anywhere.

Step 1: On your desktop or mobile browser

Step 2: On your mobile device

  • Download ClinicalKey from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Proceed through set up. After the language/country prompts, log in with your new credentials.
  • Ignore the Openathens login and Institution login step.
  • You should now see the ClinicalKey search screen.

DynaMed (iOS/Android)

DynaMed is a clinical reference tool for use at point-of-care, with clinically-organized summaries.

Step 1: On your desktop / laptop

Step 2: On your mobile device

  • Download DynaMed from the App Store (iOS 10 or higher is required) or Google Play.
  • Click the Sign In tab to sign in with your username and password.
  • Click Sign In. Enter you login credentials from the account you created in Step 1.
  • If you encounter problems, contact the library.

Note: You will need to reenter your DynaMed login every 6 months. When your authentication expires, you will be asked to reenter your login information in the app which will renew your login for another 6 months.

PubMed4Hh (iOS/Android)

PubMed4Hh: PubMed for Handhelds provides access to the US National Library of Medicine with sections for clinical queries, consensus abstracts, askMEDLINE and a journal browser. 

PubMed4Hh for Android, iPad or iPhone

Step 1: On your mobile device

  • Download PubMed4Hh from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Open the app.

Read by QxMD (iOS/Android)

Read by QxMD: Locates up-to-date research and reviews from PubMed (Medline) and links to full-text articles.

Setting institutional access

  • Download Read by QxMD from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Create a personal account.
  • In Content Settings, choose Institutional Settings and College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
  • Choose Automatic Login.

If Read displays "We couldn't find the PDF for this paper"

  • Select the kebab (3 vertical dots)
  • Select Share then Email paper to email the record to the College library (medlib@cpsbc.ca). 
  • Library staff will locate a copy and email it to you. Please remember to provide your name.

STAT!Ref (iOS/Android)

STAT!Ref provides access to AAFP Conditions A-Z, EBMcalc, and Decker: Pain Management.

Step 1: On your desktop or mobile browser

Step 2: On your mobile device

  • Download STAT!Ref from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Enter your User Name and the Password you created.

Note: Users must re-authenticate their My STAT!Ref Temporary Login every 12 months.
