CPSBC eligibility bylaws updated
The board of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC (CPSBC) approved bylaw amendments related to licensure eligibility requirements, which will come into effect on July 6, 2026.
CPSBC regulating four new professions in 2027
Starting November 29, 2027, CPSBC will be regulating the following diagnostic and therapeutic professions:
- clinical perfusionists
- medical laboratory technologists
- radiation therapists
- respiratory therapists
CPSBC closed on Monday, May 18
Business will resume at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
Disciplinary action re: Registrant-2026-a
A registrant has been issued a disciplinary citation, pursuant to section 39(2) of the Health Professions Act.

HPOA Updates to Practice Standards and Professional Guidelines
CPSBC’s practice standards and professional guidelines have recently been revised to align with the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA). This includes updating terminology and correcting references to ensure they point to the appropriate sections of the new legislation. Additionally, several new guidelines are now in effect.

Health Professions and Occupations Act comes in force on April 1
CPSBC’s new governing legislation, the Health Professions and Occupations Act (HPOA), will come into force on April 1, 2026. While how the public and registrants (licensees under the HPOA) currently interact with CPSBC will mostly remain the same, there are some key changes to note.
Update to Availability and Coverage practice standard clarifies expectations for after-hours care
CPSBC has revised its Care Coverage Outside Regular Office Hours practice standard, now titled Availability and Coverage, to clarify expectations for after-hours care and address identified gaps.
