New Ethical Principles for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine interim guidance posted
With the growing integration of unregulated Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in health care, including large language models, it is important that the College provides registrants with guidance to promote the safe, effective, and ethical utilization of these tools.
Though a practice standard on the appropriate use of AI in medicine is not feasible due to the evolving nature of AI, an interim guidance document will help protect public safety by promoting responsible use of AI tools by registrants.
The College’s Executive Committee approved the new Ethical Principles for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine interim guidance for publication on April 11, 2024. Questions about this document can be directed to communications@cpsbc.ca.
