Annual licence renewal begins January 1, 2026. Here’s what registrants need to do to prepare.
Review your account information before January 1, 2026
- Add or update the security questions
- If you haven’t yet set your security questions, you will be prompted to set them before accessing the rest of the portal.
- Review and update contact information
- Any changes to contact information (e.g. location or phone number) must be updated within 14 days of the move or change.
Planning to retire or resign in 2026?
Submit the resignation form before February 28, 2026 to be exempt from the 2026 annual renewal process. Learn more about the retirement/resignation options.
Gather your documents
- BC driver’s licence
- For verifying a registrant’s identity
- For the criminal record check
- Credit or debit card
- The 2026 renewal fee is C$1,925
- Continuing professional development (CPD) cycle date
- This applies to physicians and surgeons only
- It does not apply to podiatric surgeons
- Health authority letter of reappointment
- For verifying hospital privileges
- Certificate(s) of professional conduct
- This applies to physicians and surgeons who:
- worked in another province without out-of-province status in the past 12 months, or
- signed undertakings under section 25.3 of the Health Professions Act.
- This applies to physicians and surgeons who:
- The certificate of professional conduct must be sent directly to CPSBC from the relevant regulatory body.
Schedule 30 minutes to complete the renewal
It takes approximately 30 minutes to answer the entire form.
The information collected during the renewal process is personal and provides details of a registrant’s practice. You will be asked to attest that you have completed the form yourself. Medical office assistants or other staff, partners or colleagues are not permitted to complete the form on a registrant’s behalf.
Use a computer―the form does not work on a tablet or smartphone
The licence renewal process is best experienced using a PC or Mac. Mobile devices, smart phones, tablets and iPads are not supported.
Deadline and penalties
- February 28, 2026: Deadline to submit the form and pay the fees
- March 1, 2026: Penalties applied for late licence renewal or late payment of fees
- April 1, 2026: Suspension for non-renewal of licensure or non-payment of fees
