Information for prescribers: changes to pharmacists’ authority to renew prescriptions, prescribe and administer medications
Working in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the College of Pharmacists of BC (CPBC) has approved changes to permit pharmacists in BC to administer a wider range of drugs by injection and intranasal route, and to adapt existing prescriptions for a wider range of drugs and conditions.

The College is currently in the process of updating a practice standard that outlines when it is acceptable for a physician or surgeon to advertise and promote their services to the public, and the rules they must follow when doing so.

Notification of Bylaw Amendments: Section 1-23
The Board resolved to make further amendments to section 1-23 of the Bylaws. The revised bylaw amendment will be posted for a 21-day period, providing registrants and other interested parties the opportunity to review and comment.

Update to the Prescribing Methadone practice standard
The Prescribing Methadone practice standard has been updated to remove the requirement for mandatory training when prescribing methadone for analgesia. Additionally, the standard was updated to note that prescriptions are to be written on the new harmonized duplicate pad.
