The College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC is pleased to be part of the BC Health Regulators representing 26 regulated health professions governed by 23 colleges, and more than 100,000 health-care professionals. It is an incorporated, not-for-profit society with a purpose to promote effective communication and collaboration between members on matters relating to regulation, administration and education.
The BC Health Regulators launched its first public awareness campaign on September 16, 2014 titled, "Our Purpose, Your Safety" with a goal to educate British Columbians about the importance of seeing a regulated health-care professional.
Elements of the campaign included transit shelter ads, articles and ads in community papers, television closed-captioning messages, and the launch of a new website at www.bchealthregulators.ca. Materials were delivered in English, French, Spanish, Cantonese/Mandarin, Punjabi, Korean, Vietnamese, Tagalog, and Farsi.
- September 21, 2015 – The BC Health Regulators is pleased to launch its new public awareness campaign, “Saying you are one doesn’t make you one.” This year’s TV campaign uses humour to send a compelling message about the risks associated with seeing unlicensed health-care practitioners.
- September 18, 2014 – The College was pleased to participate in the 12-month public awareness campaign "Care Safe Trust." The public service announcement is available here.
- February 2, 2014 – BC's 26 regulated health professions, governed by 22 colleges under the Health Professions Act, and one under the Social Workers Act, have incorporated under the Society Act to become the Health Profession Regulators of BC Society. The full news release is available here.
