Professionalism in Medical Practice: Avoiding the Pitfalls
Check-in begins 8 a.m. on Friday
Residents, medical students and fellows C$495
There are things you didn’t anticipate in medical school. For example, be it a business opportunity or social gathering, an invitation from a long-time patient to engage outside a medical practice can be difficult to decline. Where and how do you draw the line? How do you manage the awkwardness?
In Professionalism in Medical Practice: Avoiding the Pitfalls, physicians will gain a deeper understanding of the principles of professionalism. Led by internationally recognized experts, this interactive workshop will provide physicians with the tools to recognize and safely navigate everyday challenges, while taking care of themselves and their patients.
Following completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- identify principles of professionalism in medical practice
- identify professional boundaries in medical practice
- discuss the difference between boundary crossings and boundary violations
- list the personal and practice factors that may contribute to boundary crossings and boundary violations
- understand the assessment principles in the evaluation of physicians who commit boundary violations
- describe the preventive measures to avoid boundary violations in medical practice
Space is limited. Interested physicians can fill out the registration form found at the bottom of this page, and return it to the College. If the workshop is at capacity, those interested will be placed on a waiting list. All inquiries can be directed to 604-733-7758 extension 2237.
