The Non-Hospital Medical and Surgical Facilities Accreditation Program Committee is responsible for establishing, monitoring and enforcing accreditation standards to ensure the safety, quality and consistency of patient care in private medical/surgical facilities in BC.
Based upon evidence and consensus-based information, these standards represent the minimum level of performance required to achieve accreditation with the College, reflect relevant legal requirements, and are enforceable under the Health Professions Act as set out in section 5-1 of the College Bylaws made under the Act.
The standards are used by private medical/surgical facilities to provide a framework for the continuous self-assessment and evaluation of the quality and safety of patient care delivery.
The public can use these standards to understand the College’s expectations of accredited private medical/surgical facilities.
