Anesthesia services in dental facilities
Licensees providing anesthesia care in community-based dental settings may be required to participate in Practice Enhancement Program (PEP) assessments. These include peer assessments and practice environment assessments at various career stages.
Standards for provision of anesthesia care
Licensees are expected to practice to current standards for anesthesia delivery, irrespective of practice location. The Canadian Anesthesiologists’ Society guidelines must be followed.
The following Non-Hospital Medical and Surgical Facilities Accreditation Program (NHMSFAP) accreditation standards, can also be referenced and provide information on what is expected in the out of hospital setting.
The Practice Enhancement Program is currently developing practice standards specific to anesthesia in the community dental setting.
