Defined scope

Physicians may choose to restrict their scope of practice at anytime during their career to that of an academic, administrative, or surgical assistant licence.

Physicians who do not meet the requirements for the full or provisional licence may also want to consider the associate physician licence.

Types of defined scope licences

For physicians who choose to restrict their practice to surgical assists only.
For physicians appointed to the academic staff at a BC medical school.
For physicians working in specific administrative roles within the health-care system in BC.
For physicians by federal or provincial request or if CPSBC determines immediate need.
For physicians to practise under supervision in accredited structured team-based care.
