Applying for full registration
Full registration permits a registrant to practise medicine within the scope of their education, qualifications and experience.
Physicians and surgeons should first determine whether they meet the College’s requirements for registration and licensure in the full class.
Applicants can refer to the following to determine if they meet College requirements:
The College has a fast-tracked licensure pathway for physicians and surgeons who meet the College’s requirements for registration and licensure in the full class.
Physicians and surgeons who do not meet the requirements for registration and licensure in the full class, but hold a full and unrestricted license in another Canadian jurisdiction, may be eligible for registration and licensure in the full class under the Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA).
Applicants who meet the requirements for registration and licensure in the full – family, full – specialty, or osteopathic class should complete an Application for Medical Registration (AMR) through physiciansapply.ca. This should be completed no more than three months prior to their intended start date in BC.
For applicants who already hold a full, unrestricted licence for independent practice in a Canadian jurisdiction outside of BC, and meet other requirements, the College has a fast-tracked licensure pathway. Applicants who meet these requirements do not need to complete an AMR.
Applicants who meet the requirements for registration and licensure in the full – podiatry class should email firstname.lastname@example.org to request an application package directly from the College.

The College reviews all applications and assigns a file manager to an applicant. The file manager will email the applicant with the secondary application package.
