Resigning or retiring completely from practice

Option to continue as a library member

The form provides resigning/retiring registrants with the option to maintain their contact with the College by becoming a library member for a small fee.

Medical records

Physicians must ensure that they clearly and accurately document the location of their medical records on the form.

Provide surgical assisting only

Physicians wishing to perform surgical assists only are asked to submit their request in writing by emailing registration@cpsbc.ca. Eligible registrants will be transferred to the surgical assistant class.

Annual licence renewal process

Physicians in the surgical assistant class must still complete the annual licence renewal process. They are exempt from complying with continuing competency requirements under section 2-5 of the Bylaws.

Semi-retire and provide locum services only

To complete a locum tenens, physicians must be registered and licensed by the College. As such, they may wish to maintain their full registration.

Returning to practice

Former registrants and those who have limited their practice wishing to return to full, active practice are advised to contact the College at registration@cpsbc.ca for the requirements to reactivate their licence or broaden their scope of practice.
