Resign from the CPSBC register

Once resigned, a registrant's class will be changed to former. Former registrants:

  • are not licensed to practise in BC
  • no longer have prescribing authority (including for prescription refills)
  • cannot bill MSP
  • remain listed in the public registrant directory for five years from the date of resignation

Registrants must act in accordance with the practice standards and professional guidelines, including the practice standards below which pertain to leaving practice.

Switching to the surgical assistant class of registration

Registrants in the surgical assistant class are required to complete the annual licence renewal process and are exempt from continuing competency requirements under section 2-5 of the Bylaws.

Switching to locum services only

To complete a locum tenens, physicians and surgeons must be registered and licensed by CPSBC. As such, they may wish to maintain their full registration.
