How to apply
Educational - medical student licence
The relevant BC medical school initiates the CPSBC licence application when a medical student enters their program.
CPSBC will contact the medical student to complete an application form, pay fees and submit supplementary documentation as part of the application process.
Medical students cannot begin their studies until their licence has been issued.
Maintaining the licence
The relevant BC medical school notifies CPSBC of each medical student’s continuation in their program.
Ongoing licensure is maintained by the medical student by
- completing the annual licence renewal form to the satisfaction of CPSBC, and
- online payment of the annual licence renewal fee as detailed in schedule B of the CPSBC Bylaws.
Licence renewal process
The annual licence renewal process is accessed through the CPSBC website portal. Medical students are notified by email about the licence renewal process in spring of each year.
Failure to complete the annual licence renewal process will result in the cancellation of a medical student’s licence. The licence will be reinstated when the annual licence renewal form is completed to the satisfaction of CPSBC, and online payment of all outstanding fees are made.
