Who has access to the College library?
A College registrant’s access to library services is dependent on their registration class.
Full access
The following registration classes have full access to the library and CanadaQBank:
- academic
- administrative
- assessment
- clinical observership
- conditional – disciplined
- conditional – practice limitations
- conditional – practice setting
- emergency – family
- emergency – specialty
- former (library services)
- full – family
- full – podiatric surgeon
- full – specialty
- osteopathic
- provisional – family
- provisional – specialty
- retired – life
- special
- surgical assistant
Note: Access to CanadaQBank via the College library website is restricted to the registrants in the assessment, clinical observership, and provisional classes. For those in the other registration classes mentioned above, contact the library. Approval from the director of library services may be required dependent on registration class.
Partial access
The following registration classes have access to CanadaQBank:
- educational – medical students
Note: Registrants of other health professional colleges in BC may be granted partial library access if approved by the director of library services. In these cases, registrants of other colleges will have access to library services and resources, but not online access. Retired physicians who have paid the library subscription fee for a paper-based membership have access to library services and resources, but not online access.
No access
The following registration classes have no access to the library or CanadaQBank:
- applicant
- educational – postgraduate elective
- educational – postgraduate fellow
- educational – postgraduate resident
- educational – postgraduate trainee
- former (no library services)
- visitor
Registrants in these classes may connect with local or national academic and professional institutions to which they are affiliated, and public libraries for support accessing physical and electronic information resources.
